Dr. John Roddam, the former rector of St Lukes Episcopal Church which served as the birth place of the Charismatic Renewal movement joined us on a Zoom call. Ron Frantz’s teaching on church elders set the stage for John to provid some amazing historical examples of lessons learned from the Latter Rain Movement which led into the Charismatic movement. Dr. and Rev. Father Dennis Bennet served as the lightning rod for that move in the 60’s and 70s when he served as St Luke’s rector.
John shared a testimony of what happened in 1967 in Seattle as Dennis served as a catalyst to set the elders in the gates. It provided a beautiful example of the power, authority and benefit of God’s government being reseated in the gates of a city. At that time, they were the only city in America who stopped a heresy from entering their community. John followed serving for 10 years as the rector at St Luke’s as well. Saying that his observations are insightful are an understatement. In this short video John shares some real nuggets of truth as it pertains to restoring the elders in the gates of society like the Bible speaks of. He also interviewed the last surviving elder from the Latter Rain movement. Below, you’ll find John’s interviews as well as some of Jim Watt’s notes which he shared with John.
I love the historical nature as these former pioneers of the faith set the stage for what we are doing today within Kingdom League International using One Church One Day as the methodology to establish councils of leaders in the 7 spheres of society within cities, counties, regions and even states.
