This month’s Apostolic Perspective will examine what happens when an angelic war spills from heaven to earth, turning into a culture war. In fact, we could call this “Battlefield Earth!” It is a spiritual war manifesting through various moral conflicts, or a war of ideas, which underscores the Church’s need to know and understand God’s word and the terrain to be victorious in this cultural landscape. In Hosea 4:6, the LORD says through the prophet, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”
There is a principle found in scripture, first the natural and then the spiritual. We can learn much about our spiritual war by examining real war. There was a book written by a retired general who interviewed many units from WW II. In it, he discovered that 75-80% never even fired their weapon. Hebrews 4:12 and Ephesians 6:17 liken God’s word on our lips as the sword of the spirit. To many believers stay silent today and in my opinion, it is one of the reasons why most of the Church has become combat ineffective. On this call, we’ll explore topics like:
- What does the spiritual war look like in a cultural war in cities, states, and a nation?
- What is the war for or the battle over?
- What is the war fought with?
- What is the difference between politics and government?
- Which gifts did God give the Church to fight in this war, and how can we employ them?
- and more….
