Washington State Prayer Targets September 2026

September marks the beginning of a new school year and a renewed season of united prayer throughout Washington State.

During this month’s prayer council meeting, Tim Taylor shared an update regarding the relaunch of the One Church One Day strategy. Its vision of mobilizing the Church in continual, strategic prayer has continued to inspire efforts in communities across the nation and around the world.  We pray it will be established once again in counties and cities across Washington.  Get a free assessment and discover if this strategy might help your church or city.

As this strategy is renewed in Washington, let us pray that the Church moves beyond isolated activity and embraces a kingdom-minded approach. May believers pray, speak, serve, collaborate, and act in every sphere of society.

Church Sphere
Let us pray and proclaim:
  • The One Church One Day strategy is successfully relaunched throughout Washington. May churches, pastors, intercessors, and community leaders come together to establish continual prayer in every city and county.

  • God raises up faithful coordinators/CONECTers who can build relationships across congregations and denominations. May the Church become one as Jesus prayed in John 17:21–23.

  • The Church develops a kingdom mindset that extends beyond church programs and individual salvation to the discipling of families, communities, institutions, and nations.
    Matthew 6:10, 33; Matthew 28:18–20.

  • Legalism, pride, fear, and rigid thinking that prevent Christians from working together are broken. May believers hold firmly to biblical truth while walking in humility, grace, and love.   Ephesians 4:15–16; James 3:17–18.

  • The Church learns to pray strategically—both tearing down spiritual strongholds and building according to God’s purposes.   Jeremiah 1:10; 2 Corinthians 10:4–5.

  • Kingdom-minded statesmen, servant leaders, and mature intercessors arise from the Church and faithfully serve in every sphere of society.

  • Churches recognize the spiritual nature of the present conflict without treating people as the enemy.  “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood…” — Ephesians 6:12.

Family Sphere

Virginia from Watchman on Fire chairs the family council.

Let us pray and proclaim:
  • Parents take an active interest in what their children are learning in public, private, Christian, and homeschool settings. May they have wisdom to recognize both truth and error.

  • Families intentionally spend time discussing Scripture, faith, history, current events, and the biblical worldview with their children.  Deuteronomy 6:6–7.

  • Parents establish loving, healthy boundaries and accept their God-given responsibility to guide their children rather than seeking merely to be their friends.

  • Mothers and fathers teach absolute truth with both conviction and grace. May children learn to distinguish truth from deception and develop the courage to stand for what is right.

  • The hearts of parents and children are turned toward one another, bringing healing, reconciliation, and renewed trust within Washington families. Malachi 4:5–6.

  • Families are protected from division caused by political, cultural, or generational differences. May difficult conversations be governed by wisdom, patience, honor, and love.
    James 1:19; Colossians 4:6.

  • Parents receive discernment concerning technology, social media, curricula, entertainment, and the voices influencing their children.

Government Sphere

Sharon Hanek, the Research Mom, chaired this council this month.

Let us pray and proclaim:
  • Christians throughout Washington recognize their civic responsibility and faithfully pray, become informed, speak, act, and vote according to a biblically formed conscience.

  • Apathy and fear are broken from the Church. May believers understand that engagement in civil government is an opportunity to serve their neighbors and seek righteousness, justice, and truth.

  • Christians participating in the Republican Party overcome dissension concerning candidates, endorsements, and political strategy. May they work together without sacrificing truth or integrity.

  • Party leaders and candidates reject personal ambition, bitterness, slander, and unnecessary division. May they communicate truthfully and respectfully with voters, including independent and swing voters.

  • Legalistic thinking within the Church’s political engagement is replaced by biblical wisdom, humility, discernment, and practical cooperation.

  • God raises up kingdom-minded statesmen and women rather than self-serving politicians—leaders who fear God, love truth, honor their oaths, and serve the people entrusted to them.  Exodus 18:21; Proverbs 29:2.

  • Every political ideology that opposes God’s truth, diminishes human dignity, or places the power of the state above God is exposed.

  • Christians serving in political organizations receive wisdom to recognize spiritual conflict while responding with prayer, integrity, and lawful action.

  • God’s people seek the level of justice necessary to restore integrity while also making room for repentance, mercy, reconciliation, and salvation.   Micah 6:8; Psalm 85:10.

Business Sphere
Let us pray and proclaim:
  • Government policies that unnecessarily discourage entrepreneurship, job creation, investment, and small-business growth are identified and corrected.

  • Washington’s business owners receive wisdom and creative strategies to prosper even during economic uncertainty.  Genesis 26:12–13.

  • Entrepreneurs are encouraged, not overwhelmed, by excessive costs, regulations, taxation, or administrative burdens.

  • God raises up innovators who develop solutions that serve communities, create meaningful employment, and steward resources responsibly.

  • Christian business leaders recognize their workplace as a mission field and lead with honesty, excellence, generosity, and compassion.

  • Churches and business leaders work together to strengthen families, serve their communities, and advance righteous solutions.

  • Business owners become constructively engaged in local and state government, bringing practical knowledge about employment, budgeting, management, and economic development.

  • The Lord establishes the work of the hands of His people and gives them power to create wealth for the fulfillment of His covenant purposes.  Psalm 90:17; Deuteronomy 8:18.

Education Sphere

Kathy, a retired teacher, chairs the education council.

Let us pray and proclaim:
  • God blesses and prospers the 2026–2027 school year at every level, from preschool through graduate school. May His light and truth shine throughout education in every way.

  • Every alliance, funding stream, policy, or ideological agenda—whether operating through the National Science Foundation, the Washington Education Association, OSPI, or another institution—that undermines parental rights, academic integrity, or biblical truth is exposed and corrected.

  • Students are delivered from revisionist history, ideological indoctrination, declining academic standards, and curricula that confuse rather than educate. May a love for history, knowledge, logic, mathematics, and truth be restored.

  • Spiritual strongholds over Washington’s educational system are broken. May school boards, administrators, and staff recognize deception and have the courage to make righteous corrections.

  • Student achievement rises significantly throughout Washington. May public resources be stewarded responsibly and produce measurable educational improvement.

  • School district employees, families, teachers, and students stand firmly in their faith, receiving grace to persevere in their assignments.     “And having done all, to stand.” — Ephesians 6:13.

  • Teachers have appropriate freedom to discuss scriptural and moral issues without intimidation or unjust retaliation.

  • Christian schools remain faithful to Scripture and resist pressure to compromise their biblical identity or teaching.

  • God’s peace and hope rest upon every school district. May teachers receive clarity, strength, and relief from overwhelming stress.

  • Children with challenging behaviors receive compassionate and effective support, enabling them and their classmates to learn in safe, orderly classrooms.

  • Transparency is restored between schools and parents, particularly when students request services connected to sexuality or gender identity. May parental rights and responsibilities be honored.

  • Leaders who refuse truth, accountability, academic excellence, or parental rights are lawfully removed or corrected. May righteous leaders with godly wisdom arise to take their place.

Healthcare Sphere

Diana, a retired nurse, says, “As tribal organizations, hospital corporations, and other large systems acquire or establish clinics, behavioral-health facilities, and medical services, the Church must respond with discernment, humility, prayer, and love. Our conflict is not with people, ethnicities, or cultures, but with spiritual powers that oppose the purposes of God.”

Let us pray and proclaim:
  • Jesus awakens the Body of Christ to the signs of the times and to the spiritual conflict between light and darkness.  “The battle is the LORD’s.” — 1 Samuel 17:47.

  • The Church rises in sustained prayer and intercession for hospitals, clinics, behavioral-health centers, caregivers, patients, administrators, and governing boards.

  • The Spirit of the Lord, who came mightily upon David, strengthens the Church for courageous and compassionate service. 1 Samuel 16:13.

  • Spiritual gifts mature within the Body of Christ, particularly wisdom, discernment, and the discerning of spirits. 1 Corinthians 12:10–11.

  • Christian healthcare workers learn to walk according to the Spirit and discern the spiritual atmosphere of their workplaces without falling into fear, hostility, or suspicion.
    Romans 8:4; 2 Timothy 1:7.

  • The origins, mission statements, values, financial interests, and governing philosophies of healthcare institutions are transparent. Anything that places ideology, profit, or spiritual darkness above the wellbeing of patients is exposed.

  • Every spiritual stronghold operating within healthcare facilities is broken through prayer and intercession in Jesus’ name. May hospitals and clinics become places of truth, compassion, healing, and life.

  • Christians build respectful relationships with believers and communities within the Quinault Nation and other tribal nations. May cooperation, reconciliation, and shared concern for patients open doors for prayer and gospel witness.

  • The Holy Spirit raises up Christians with a missionary calling to the healthcare system, including believers from many ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

  • Prayer movements begin within clinics, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and behavioral-health facilities.

  • Healthcare workers’ hearts are opened to the gospel, and Christian workers receive wisdom to share their faith with compassion and integrity.   2 Corinthians 5:11; Ephesians 2:5.

  • Church leaders teach God’s people about caring for the body, renewing the mind, and restoring the spirit.

  • Churches partner with their communities to equip people to thrive spiritually, physically, emotionally, and relationally.

  • Additional healthcare councils are established locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally.

  • God’s healing power is manifested in ways that turn hearts toward Jesus Christ. May patients, families, and healthcare workers encounter the God who heals.

A Call to United Prayer

Let us enter September with faith, courage, humility, and perseverance. May Washington’s families be strengthened, its schools covered in prayer, its government served by righteous leaders, its businesses prosper with integrity, its healthcare institutions become places of life and healing, and its churches unite around the gospel of the kingdom.

May the Church pray, proclaim, serve, and stand until God’s will is done in Washington State as it is in heaven.
