Orphans Widows & Pure Religion: Reports from Burma & India

James 1:27 says, “Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.”

Here are two reports.  Both of these works sprung out of houses of prayer in 2016 and 2017 respectively.  We are grateful to share an encouraging update from our ministry partners in Myanmar and India.

John Mark Reports

Since returning from India in March, the children’s home has grown by approximately 50 percent. The two most recent photos show 33 children now in their care.

We are especially proud of Mr. Cung, who earned the highest grades in his class. His hard work is a wonderful testimony to the encouragement, instruction, and prayer these children receive each day.

Health

The children have faced many health challenges, including influenza, dengue fever, diarrhea, stomach illnesses, scabies, and ringworm. The rainy season brings an increase in mosquitoes and mosquito-borne illnesses, leaving many of the children weak.

We thank God that they have recovered, and we continue praying for their protection, strength, and good health.

Education

All the children are attending school. They study Burmese, English, mathematics, history, geography, science, and other subjects.

Each evening from 7:00 to 9:30, the children gather to study their lessons. Ms. Bawi supervises their evening studies and helps them with anything they do not understand.

The children have completed their first-semester examinations. Their overall results were encouraging, and several of them performed exceptionally well.

Spiritual Growth

We are thankful to see the children growing in their relationships with God. Every evening, the family gathers for devotions and Bible study. The children read Scripture, memorize new verses, sing choruses, and pray together. Even the youngest boys and girls are learning to pray and communicate with God daily.

Devotion time has become one of the most joyful parts of family life. Many of the children are enthusiastic about serving the Lord when they grow older.

The Situation in Myanmar/Burma

We continue to endure a devastating civil war. Families live under the constant pressure of fear, violence, airstrikes, and displacement. Many people are struggling to find enough food, while lawlessness, looting, and rapidly rising prices create even greater hardship.

Our ministry partners have been forced to reduce their budget and limit their daily meals. Please pray for the children’s food, health, safety, and education—and for peace and restoration throughout the country.

Update on Nani, Widows and Orphans in India

We are also thankful that Nani survived a serious hit-and-run accident last month. He lost a great deal of blood and suffered two compound fractures, nearly losing both his life and his leg. By God’s grace, the doctors were able to save his leg, and he is preparing for a second surgery.

Although this has been an extremely difficult season, we are grateful that the ministry has continued without interruption. Jesus Christ Prayer House, the India Prayer League, and Love and Hope continue serving the poor, widows, and orphans. Food distribution and other essential ministry work are moving forward because of the faithful leaders God has raised up.

We deeply appreciate your prayers and generous partnership. Together, we are helping provide food, education, spiritual care, and hope to children and families facing tremendous hardship.

Please continue praying for:

  • The health and daily nourishment of the children and widows
  • Wisdom and strength for their teachers and caregivers
  • Peace and restoration in Myanmar and protection and safety of the Church in India
  • Nani’s surgery and complete recovery
    • He goes in for his next surgery on Thursday.  A
    • Half of 2nd surgery covered. Estimate another $2000.
    • The Gospel Chariot (the van) will now be even more important.  ($9500)
  • The leaders serving the poor, widows, and orphans in India
  • God’s continued provision for every ministry need

Thank you for standing with these precious children and faithful servants of Christ.

If you are so moved by the LORD to partner with us, click here, to contribute to Nani’s surgery select “Missions” and in the note section write “Surgery” and “Orphans & Widows,” and if you have a specific country you’d like it to go to Myanmar/India, write that in the note section.

Blessings,

Tim & Brenda
