Pure and Undefiled Religion: A Word on Our Orphans reveals the power of persistent prayer for justice while providing an update on our kids and their hopes. Just days ago, Judy sent us a text with this article from The Conversation about the country that our orphans had to escape from. With international law at a ‘breaking point’, a tiny country goes after Myanmar’s junta on its own! Here are two excerpts from the article.
This week, the tiny country took an unprecedented step: its judicial authorities appointed a prosecutor to examine the Myanmar military’s responsibility for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The case resulted from the persistence of a victims’ group, the Chin Human Rights Organisation, in pursuing justice for the Chin people, a minority group in Myanmar. The Conversation Tweet
Our Tribe
Our minister, who collaborated with us using a strategic approach to launch MT Horeb Prayer Center in 2010, worked alongside seven denominations to establish it. Their collective prayers helped achieve a 50% growth in the Christian population in Myanmar from 2009 to 2019, launched the orphanage and they saw the first Christian ever appointed to the vice-presidency of their nation in
2016. All from the Chin tribe.
Then, in 2021, the junta overthrew the civilian-elected government. As the population responded, the junta targeted many Christian ministers for arrest. During the subsequent purge, many churches were bombed and people were murdered. They even executed an elderly woman, an intercessor at our prayer center, shot another pastor, and later bombed MT Horeb. The war drew closer and closer to our orphans and ministers, until they managed to escape.
Prayers for Justice
Finally, a tiny nation stepped up to examine the actions of the junta. That is an answer to prayer….. beginning. Join us in praying for justice to follow through.
Hope to Return Home
John Mark informed us last month that they hope to return home in a few months. That’s a real challenge since the junta is still in power. The recent election they held was rigged. There is still fighting going on; nonetheless, our ministers and children hope to return home.
I want to invite you to:
- Pray with us for God’s timing and their safe return.
- For the children to finish their schooling well in India.
- Provision for the travel back as well as reestablishing their home and dorms.
- If you’d like to contribute, I’d encourage you to pray and obey and partner with us by clicking here to donate.
Christmas for the Orphans
Remember God’s word? James 1:27 says, “Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.”
We are so grateful for your partnership in the gospel. They send their love and heartfelt gratitude.
