Dear Friend,
Are you a new believer in Christ or did you pray to receive Christ many years ago? How is life going? How’s your family doing? Is your life going the way you hoped or expected after you received Jesus Christ? Do you feel like a victim or a victor?
The Bible says in Hosea 4:6 that, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…” I have found that scripture is so true. When I first prayed the prayer giving my life to the LORD it was glorious. The guilt and condemnation that sin brought was lifted and it was like I was on a honeymoon with the LORD. So many prayers were answered at the start.
As time went on I discovered that my ignorance of God’s word and spiritual truths allowed the devil to eat my lunch. From relationships to finances, it seemed like I kept snatching defeat out of victory time and again. It was because I was ignorant of God’s word and His ways.
Jesus taught the gospel of the kingdom. Salvation is the first and most important element in the gospel of the kingdom, but it is just the first step. Because many don’t take the next step to become a disciple and learn God’s ways, they experience defeat after defeat. At least, that’s what I did.
Why? I did not know how to fight using God’s word. I did not realize that His word is the primary weapon system of a disciple. It is to be used in conjunction with Holy Spirit which is why it is referred to as the sword of the spirit.
My life dramatically changed when I realized that discipline is a key element of being a disciple. It actually set me free.
I discovered how to read God’s word daily and to study it. I also learned how to develop a prayer life so that Holy Spirit could lead, guide and teach me. Imagine that, the Creator of the universe revealing what He wrote in the scriptures.
He did that for me and I know He can do it for you as well. It’s not easy, but I promise you, it is worth it.
